New Business Ribbon Cutting in Ensley; Franchise Chooses City over Suburbs

Birmingham, AL – Family Dollar opens its newest location at 2003 Avenue F Ensley on Thursday, November 7, 2007 at 9am with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Family Dollar was originally eyeing sites for this store that were outside of the city limits. Through with the efforts of the City of Birmingham and Main Street Birmingham, Inc. the company opted to renovate the former A&P Grocery Store in downtown Ensley as its new location.

“This Family Dollar project represents almost $1 million of investment and 25 new jobs for the Ensley area,” said David Fleming, Executive Director of Main Street Birmingham, Inc. “A new business is replacing a blighted property on a highly traveled corridor. Everything about this is a positive.”

Local merchants, community leaders and political leaders are expected to be in attendance for the celebration.
