Avondale Merchants to Showcase Commercial Property Bargains

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 14, 2009) - The Avondale Business Association and Main Street Birmingham, Inc. will showcase some of Avondale’s most competitively priced commercial properties for sale and lease at an event for realtors on Tuesday, July 21, from 5:00 to 6:30pm at Old Car Heaven, 115 35th Street South. The event, titled Avondale: Historic Properties, Today’s Profit, will update investors, realtors and economic development professionals on millions of dollars in public and private investment being made in the area and provide a sneak peak at some high profile commercial properties coming on the market soon.

“Avondale boasts some of the area’s best values right now,” said Main Street Birmingham Executive Director David Fleming. “There’s a wide variety of properties and buildings, the area is strategically located near downtown, interstates and highways and the prices are hard to beat.” Leasing opportunities start as low as $2.50 per square foot, with opportunities to buy as low as $10.00 per square foot.

Representatives from the Birmingham Mayor’s Office of Economic Development will join Avondale property owners, commercial realtors and investors for an outline of major public and private investment underway in Avondale Park and the Avondale business district,  Information about low-interest loans, tax credits and other incentives for development will be available.

Main Street Birmingham, Inc. is a nonprofit agency under contract with the City of Birmingham to foster neighborhood commercial district revitalization.  The program targets nine urban commercial districts to strengthen economic development by utilizing the National Main Street Center’s Four Point Approach™ of design, organization, economic restructuring and promotion.
