Help Preserve Ensley's Historic Nixon Building with a Few Clicks
The clock has just started ticking on a campaign to rack up votes for a photo contest featuring the historic Nixon-Belcher building at Ensley's Tuxedo Junction. Tha National Trust for Historic Preservation accepted 1900 entries in their "This Place Matters" photo contest. On Monday, September 29th, the Trust announced a photo of the Nixon Building, the one remaining symbol of Tuxedo Junction's rich early 20th century culture, has been chosen as one of only 12 finalists. Efforts are underway to establish a cultural heritage center at the site, and this exposure could push the project to the tipping point.
We only have until October 9th to collect votes. Here's what you can do:
1.Visit the National Trust site to vote.
2. You have to sign in to register, then respond to an email they send you in order to vote for the Ensley Belcher video (to make sure you only vote once per day.)
3. Read instruction for the e-Card shown after you vote and send it on to anyone who cares about Ensley, Birmingham and historic preservation.
4. Put it on your calendar to return to the site and vote every day until October 9th.
Be on the look out for mentions of the campaign on Facebook, Twitter, email and the media and forward these messages on as often as possible. Email us with any questions, or call 205.595.0562.
