Main Street Birmingham believes entrepreneurs play a key role in sparking economic development in the city’s urban commercial cores. Small businesses and entrepreneurs are often discouraged from utilizing professional services they need when developing their business due to the perceived expense of obtaining these services. Main Street Birmingham’s Access Pilot Program helps entrepreneurs by providing low cost access to professional services needed to build a viable business. These services help clients make a stronger case when trying to access capital.

Through Access, Main Street Birmingham staff recruits high quality professional service providers in the following areas:

• Planning
• Architectural and Design
• Accounting
• Legal
• Advertising and Marketing 
• Computer Technology
• Financial Consultation and Planning
• Other Needs Identified by Business Owners and Main Street Birmingham

Entrepreneurs choose from the list of service professionals provided by Main Street Birmingham.  Each entrepreneur accepted into the program will receive a grant to assist with service costs. The client, MSB staff and the service provider agree on the service to be provided, the service outcome, time frame and costs.  MSB will reimburse providers the full amount agreed upon when the project outcome is satisfactorily completed.
